Blood donation is an activity that has become a regular agenda of BPS Regency Rembang held every three months. This activity is a collaboration between BPS Kabupaten Rembang together with PMI Kabupaten Rembang.
This activity is one manifestation of social awareness to the fellow and caring in helping the availability of blood for the community in Rembang regency. The main purpose of this activity is in addition to helping increase blood availability in PMI also encourage healthy lifestyles of people to be healthy apalgi if donating blood regularly.
While donating blood, in fact a person can also simultaneously check the condition of his health. But actually blood donors are not only beneficial to others but also beneficial to our body. When donating blood then blood cells will be replaced with new blood cells. It will also nourish our body or the body of the donor.
Blood donor activities were held on Friday, November 17, 2017 at the BPS office of Rembang Regency and followed by donors from BPS staff of Rembang Regency who were willing to donate their blood. Blood donor participants this time the number increases compared to before. This should be appreciated because of the spirit of friends who want to donate blood even though there are employees who are denied to donate blood on the grounds one of the conditions are not met, ie Hemoglobin (HB) is less qualified. According to PMI Rembang officer, the result of blood donor activity will surely increase the stock of blood supply at PMI which later will be distributed by PMI to those who need blood. One of them is to the hospital in Rembang Regency.
 Blood donors are a noble activity but not just anyone can do blood donation. According to PMI Rembnag officers, donated blood must be ensured that it will not cause problems to the recipient of the blood and does not entrust the person giving the blood or the donor. All donor blood received by PMI is directly checked by blood testing technique to determine the presence or absence of contamination of infectious diseases that can endanger transfusion patient. Some types of infectious diseases are Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV and syphilis (venereal disease). If the blood checks / blood tests are identified to contain infectious diseases, they are immediately removed for further destruction within the incinerary (medical waste burner).
Please note that not everyone can donate blood directly. There are several conditions that must be met donors before donating blood, including:
- Age above 17 years
- Weight is enough
- For women, not in menstrual period, breastfeeding and pregnant
- Physically and mentally healthy (not in pain or stress)
- Normal blood pressure (60-100 mmHg for diastolic blood pressure and 100-170 mmHg for
   systolic blood pressure)
- Distance of blood donor (ideal distance is 10 weeks and may be done maximal 5 times in
     a year)
- Regular pulse rate (range from 50-100 times / minute)
- Normal hemoglobin level (about> 12.5 gr% -17.0 gr%)
- Not experiencing hemophilia or blood clotting disorders
Hopefully the future of BPS Regency of Rembang can still carry out this blood donor activity and hope the donor will increase again. Come on blood donation! With blood donors in addition to nourish the body with renewable blood also with a drop of healthy blood can save the human soul. This is a manifestation of social concern for others. (SR)
This activity lasted about 2 hours guided by 2 officers from PMI Kabupaten Rembang. Participants who have contributed donated their blood to receive food / soft drinks and vitamins to restore physical condition.
