Abstract

Inflation is the tendency of rising prices of goods and services in general, ongoing within a certain time. The price increase of one or two items alone can not be called inflation unless the increase was widespread and result in higher prices on other goods. Inflation is an indicator that describes the level of purchasing power (purchasing power parity) and the cost of living. Calculating inflation based on the consumer price index (CPI) conducted a new CPM currently covers 82 cities, comprising 33 provincial capital cities and 49 districts / cities. In 2012, BPS organizes Cost of Living Survey (SBH) in 82 cities to get a diagram weigh and package the new commodity as the basis for calculating the CPI base year (2012 = 100), instead diagram weigh and package the commodity in 2007 which no longer conform to the changing pattern current consumption. The trigger came from price increases with a side dish of rice, sugar, and filter cigarettes. During 2016, the highest inflation occurred in July, reaching 0.77 percent.
