The national tourism sector began to grow and develop and even began to become a trend and lifestyle in the community. His role is increasingly important in line with the development and contributions made through this tourism sector. It is expected that the tourism sector will become a mainstay sector capable of driving other economic sectors. The government is currently intensively attracting foreign tourists to increase foreign exchange, and is also trying to increase the number of tourists visiting the archipelago (Wisnus). Although foreign tourists do not bring in foreign exchange for the state, they are able to move the country's economy through increasing household consumption. The trips carried out by the tourists were able to revive the transportation, hospitality, creative industries and so on. Starting from this and given the importance of the availability of data and information about the travel of domestic tourists, the BPS in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism carried out these activities through the Nusantara Tourist Survey (Wisnus). The 2019 Wisnus Survey is carried out throughout Indonesia and this is a continuation of similar surveys in 2016, 2017 and 2018. Since 2018, Nusantara Tourist Survey (Wisnus) activities have been included as National Priority Programs, because they will be used to support development goals.
