Implementation of Household Listing of Wisnus 2018 Survey BPS Kabupaten Rembang

July 9, 2018 | BPS Activities

The Nusantara Tourist Survey (Wisnus) 2018 is a regular survey of BPS, which is a continuation of the 2017 Wisnus Survey. The purpose of this activity is to collect data on domestic tourists traveling in Indonesia and wisnus profiles, such as demographic characteristics, travel patterns, the expense / consumption of wisnus.
Although Wisnus does not bring in foreign exchange for the country, but it can not be underestimated, especially its ability to move the country's economy through increased household consumption. Travel conducted wisnus able to revive the transport sector, hotels, creative industries and so forth.
Tourist Nusantara (Wisnus) 2018 is a collaborative activity between BPS with the Ministry of Tourism. Previously, Wisnus data collection was covered in the National Socio-Economic Survey (Susenas), but since 2016 the Ministry of Tourism and BPS have collaborated to perform an exclusive data collection on Wisnus's profile and the number of Indonesians traveling.
After the initial stage of staff training, the next step of updating the household results listings. At this stage will be checking the existence of the household and inquire about the trip in the second quarter and II. Household listing of the first and second quarter starts from 2 to 14 July 2018.
In Rembang regency the number of Wisnus samples in quarter I and II was 18 census blocks so that the total sample was 36 census blocks, with officers as many as 21 people (16 PCS and 5 PMS). Each PCS works on 3-4 census blocks and each PMS oversees two to three PCS. What should be noted by the officer is the listing schedule. It is expected that with a schedule of approximately 2 weeks the implementation of the listing can be completed on time. Because if one census block has not been completed (eg in one district), then nationally no sampling can be done. So the listing should be completed all new sampling can be done.
Obstacles encountered by officers at the time of listing is the respondents difficult to remember whether to travel in the first quarter (January-March) or not. With conditions now entering the beginning of the third quarter, so the respondents have forgotten and even if you remember we must do a deeper probing. It can be ascertained that the number of households / ART that travel in the first quarter is less than the second quarter. In the second quarter, it is certain that many households / antiretrovirals will travel, because in the second quarter there is a factor of long school holidays, fasting and public holidays. So the possibility of many households that travel well to the commercial attractions, travel with a distance of more than 100 km pp and stay in commercial accommodation.
In addition to the above obstacles, other constraints are that the respondent can not be found for reasons of work and return home in the afternoon / night, so here the officer must re-visit when the respondent is already in place. And also for example the lack of ART at home will also make it difficult for officials to take ART trips that have not been met at the time, so that the officer will make a return visit to interview them.
The various obstacles so far can be resolved internally by field officers in coordination with their respective supervisors. And at the time of listing, the supervisor also perform mentoring at the beginning of the listing. This is intended to minimize errors that occur when officers do listings, how to menyakan / interview respondents, how to dig information / memprobing respondents, and how to fill in the list of stuffing. Thus it is unlikely that similar errors will be obtained.
Finally, hopefully the implementation of Wisnus listing in Rembang Regency run smoothly, finished on time and with qualified officers inshaAllah obtained optimal results in accordance with the expected BPS, the data quality. (SR)
